RIP Peter Steele 1962-2010

Posted by EW on 16/04/10

You can't have failed to miss the rumours circulating around the internet all of today: Pete Steele, primarily of Type O Negative fame, passed away yesterday from suspected heart failure. He was 48 years old.

More information can be read here.

Type O Negative were a legendary band of mid-90s metal, with Steele being particularly well-known for his huge physical stature, deep bass voice, inimitably dry dark wit and appearances on the Jerry Springer Show and in Playgirl magazine. Previously a member of the devastatingly under-rated thrash band Carnivore in the mid-80s, for once it is no exaggeration to say there will never be another like him in the metal world. RIP.
