Fans of rock and heavy metal in the United Kingdom are defying the credit crunch by spending more money on their heroes' albums, shows and merchandise, according to latest figures from the British Phonographic Industry. The report shows that rock is now the best-selling type of music in single and album formats, with more than 35% of all CDs sold in the UK by rock bands.
