Hangman's noose for The Pirate Bay

The court has finally given its verdict in the case of the IFPI versus The Pirate Bay. The verdict was guilty for each of the four defendants (Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm and Carl Lundström) and they were each sentenced to a year in jail and must pay damages of 30 million SEK ($3,620,000) between them. They now have 3 weeks to appeal against this verdict, which they will almost certainly do, and take the case to the high court. In a press conference Peter Sunde claimed that during this trial the court had not respected the country's laws and that both the prosecution and the judge had been lacking in technical knowledge. He therefore expects a favourable verdict in the high court. He commented "[The prosecution] could have [been awarded] one billion SEK [...] it doesn't matter because we can't pay and we wouldn't pay".
