Universal to follow EMI's suit-to sell music DRM-free in an experiment

Posted by PP on 11/08/07

Universal is the latest major label to follow EMI's example of selling its music DRM-free.

Universal said: "The experiment will run from August to January and analyze such factors as consumer demand, price sensitivity and piracy in regards to the availability of open MP3s."

The experiment will include Wall-Mart and Amazon.com among other major stores, but will not be extended to iTunes for the moment.

Rockfreaks.net applauds for the right direction Universal is taking.
