Royal Metal Fest set to return in 2023 after all

Denmark’s Royal Metal Fest has been resurrected as part of a partnership between the previous organiser Metal Royale, which was declared bankrupt earlier this year, and Royal Beer’s Tak Rock! initiative. The new partnership is called Royal Metal.

This means that the festival will return in 2023 after all, albeit now taking place in the city of Århus on September 01st and September 02nd instead of early April like before, and contrary to previous years, the festival area sans the concerts themselves will be open to the public free of charge. This is to help raise awareness of the festival, which will be coinciding with Århus Festuge — a city-wide celebration of culture.

The organisers will also hold a smaller scale mini-festival in the spring, with more details to be provided in the beginning of next year.

Commenting on the new partnership, the chairman and spokesperson of Royal Metal, Christian Jakobsen offered:

The cooperation with Royal Beer opens up a wealth of possibilities for Royal Metal. We will receive many more business and partnership opportunities that, in time, will contribute towards realising our many thoughts and ideas, as well as reinforcing the existing metal scene in Århus. From a business standpoint, it is a stroke of genius for both Royal Metal and Royal Beer. For us, it will also mean that we can breathe life into the fire that burned out earlier this year, and that a festival, which has existed since 2008, is suddenly given a new life.

Christian Lund-Martorell, Senior Brand Manager at Royal Beer added:

It has been a hard year for Danish music festivals and associations, which, among many other things, have been putting up a brave fight in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. That’s why we at Tak Rock are very excited about being able to offer a helping hand to an association, which has meant so much for the rock and metal scene both in Århus and in the rest of Denmark, not only in terms of ensuring its survival, but also its continued development and, hopefully, thriving in the years to come.

It is important for us that we aren’t “buying” the association, but rather ensuring that it can survive, and that its legacy can be borne further. Tak Rock knows how much passionate volunteers and associations mean for the Danish music and live scene, and we are happy to be able to support them with this cooperation.
