MTV Video Music Awards Winners

The 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by renowned comedian Jack Black, produced a number of surprises this year. Rock bands took home six of the altogether 21 awards. However, only eleven of the categories were applicable to rock bands, so we are talking about rock bands hoarding over half of the awards.

Perhaps the most important award, Video of the Year, was snatched by Panic! At The Disco with their video for "I Write Sins Not Tragedies". The award for 2006 Best Rock Video was given to AFI for "Miss Murder" while The All-American Rejects took the Best Group Video moonman for their song "Move Along". Best New Artist (strangely enough as they aren't new to any extent) went home with Avenged Sevenfold for their video for "Bat Country", and Fall Out Boy walked out with the Viewer's Choice Award for "Dance, Dance". And last but not least, Red Hot Chili Peppers was awarded a moonman for Best Art Direction for their video for "Dani California".
