KISS, Down, Opeth & more confirmed for Copenhell 2020

Copenhell has announced a new batch of artists for its 2020 line-up, including glam rock band KISS in the headliner category. The New York City, NY-based veterans are presently on their “End of the Road” farewell tour, so this will likely be the last opportunity to see them live on Danish soil.

Moving into the sub-liner department, the festival has added the New Orleans, LA-born groove / sludge metal supergroup Down, who will be making their first appearance at the festival and in Denmark in general since 2013. Joining them in semi-large print are Stockholm, Sweden’s progressive metal titans Opeth, who will test the festival worthiness of the material from their brand new album “In Cauda Venenum”. And finally, San Diego, CA’s nu metal icons P.O.D. are set to deliver mass sing-songs like “Alive” and “Satellite” to an almost certainly divided audience.

In the smaller print, the festival has added something of a scoop in the Luleå, Sweden-born hardcore punk inciters of Raised Fist, who have not made an appearance in Denmark since 2004. Their impending new album “Anthems”, as well as the rest of their repertoire, is certain to bring the mosh pit on Refshaleøen’s concrete ground to a boiling point.

Fans of retrospective doom and hard rock will be delighted at the prospect of Witchcraft and Hällas — both from Sweden — making their Copenhell débuts, while people leaning toward extreme metal in their tastes will be foaming at the mouth at the prospect of the ultra-hyped Gatecreeper and Blood Incantation joining the festivities next summer with new albums in the bag.

Helsinki, Finland’s hard rock group Santa Cruz, who were supposed to perform at the festival already in 2018 before becoming embroiled in a drama that resulted in most of the members exiting the band, will finally play as well, while the Montreal, QC-based electro-laced alternative metallers Deadly Apples have been added to the poster, too.

Tickets for the festival, which runs from June 17th to June 20th at Refshaleøen in Copenhagen, are on sale now via Ticketmaster.dk, while more details can be found in the official Facebook event.
