Avenged Sevenfold announced as Copenhell '18 headliner

Denmark’s premier metal event Copenhell is not resting on its laurels — this morning, the festival has boldly announced Avenged Sevenfold as one of its 2018 headliners. The band released a phenomenal new record in “The Stage” last year and can be counted on to push theatrics to the max on the main Helvíti stage.

Joining them on the bill are, among others, the Welsh metalcore-turned-heavy metallers of Bullet For My Valentine, whose sixth studio album is expected to arrive early next year, having been teased via the new video single, “Don’t Need You”, earlier this month.

Corrosion Of Conformity will also make an appearance, bringing with them their recently announced new album, “No Cross No Crown”, which marks the first studio output to feature Pepper Keenan on vocals since 2005’s “In the Arms of God”.

Further down the pecking order are the technical death metal veterans of Suffocation, whose latest album, “Of the Dark Light”, sounds as old-school as ever. By virtue of their introduction of breakdowns to the genre, the band remains an important influence on the deathcore scene, so naturally, the meteoric Aussie group Thy Art Is Murder will be joining the party at the Refshaleøen industrial area as well, with their own new album, “Dear Desolation”, in tow.

Those who like their metal experimental will also be pleased to find the Japanese fusion act Crossfaith as a fresh addition to the bill — their bizarro amalgam of metal, industrial, dubstep and electronica is certain to provide one of the most eclectic experiences at the festival next summer. They stand in stark contrast with the classic glam metal stylings of Finland’s Santa Cruz, who complete today’s batch of artists added to Copenhell’s line-up.

The festival takes place between June 21st and June 23rd, and tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.dk. For more information, see the official Facebook event.
