Cult Of Luna & Julie Christmas debut first single: "A Greater Call"

Cult Of Luna and Julie Christmas have premiered the monumental first single, ”A Greater Call”, from their collaborative effort “Mariner” online below. Commenting on the song, the group offered:

A Greater Call is the link between the city and the void above. Imagine walking up to your vessel and how the excitement grabs hold of you. The feeling of uncertainty. Are you even going to be able to push through the atmosphere in one piece? A last breathe [sic] before blast off and then we leave. The song is about how humanity is cutting its losses and leave a dying planet. Its only hope lies above. Although it might not be representative of the album as a whole and Julie’s involvement. It is where the journey starts.

Those wondering what stylistic differences such a collaboration might inflict on Cult Of Luna’s signature sound need not be skeptical — ”A Greater Call” at least sounds like vintage ’Luna, huge and evocative, now with the extra dimension of Christmas’ celestial, almost shamanic singing. Check it out for yourself:

”Mariner” will be released through Indie Recordings on April 08th.

We hope to watch Cult Of Luna performing the entirety of their classic ”Somewhere Along the Highway” album at this year’s Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Netherlands on April 14th.

Danish fans meanwhile can look forward to that same performance as part of the inaugural edition of A Colossal Weekend, which takes place at Vega in Copenhagen on May 13th and May 14th. Given the line-up, partout tickets are priced ridiculously low at 475 DKK, so do not hesitate to grab one from Billetnet.dk.
