Death toll from Goodbye To Gravity's release party now at 51
Posted by AP on 12/11/15
Previous NextThe death toll from last month’s tragedy at Goodbye To Gravity’s release party at the Colectiv nightclub in Bucharest, Romania has risen to 51 casualties with the passing of the band’s bassist Alex Pascu yesterday, shortly after being transported to another hospital facility for treatment of his burns. The group is now survived only by vocalist Andrei Galut.
Prime Minister Victor Ponta and his cabinet have resigned as a result of the blaze, which is widely blamed on corruption and resulting lax security measures in place at the venue at the time of the accident. Authorities are warning that the death toll could continue to rise, as 76 people remain hospitalised, 24 of them in serious or critical condition. A further 29 people are undergoing treatment for burns in foreign hospitals.
