Tool wins lawsuit; new album expected done by end of 2015

Tool’s 8-year spanning lawsuit filed against them by visual artist Cam De Leon has come to an end in the band’s favour, although the details on the court’s decision were not disclosed. De Leon had designed a number of artwork elements for the band at the time, and del he was unfairly compensated for those, and that the band’s usage of them exceeded his licenses. You can read more about the band’s legal toil, etc. in a new interview with Yahoo.

However, the most interesting passage from the interview is guitarist Adam Jones’ confirming that the group are eyeing to have their new album done by the end of the year, with a 2016 release date planned. One of ten songs it is to include is apparently now complete, with Jones offering:

Our greatest strength is jamming and coming up with stuff. We’re doing that really well now and I’m excited about everything we’re working on. Some of it’s really heavy, some of it’s complex and some is more atmospheric, but it’s definitely Tool. I think having this lawsuit out of the way should really speed of the progress of getting the album done.
