Vinyl is storming forward while the CD is in a decline. Unfortunately especially small bands have a difficult time in evaluating how many people will buy their record, and don't always have money to print vinyl records with uncertain sales prospects.

Meet Great Scott, a Danish startup that plans to fill that void by offering crowd-funding of vinyl records. Bands set a minimum number of vinyls for pre-order by fans. If that number is met or exceeded by a time-frame, then the vinyl goes into print. Neat!

The company is launching with two hip hop artists as test cases, but I wonder if that can't be quickly supplemented by a few rock records as well?
