The next paragraph or so I will use into criticizing the award categories, winners and the lack of quality understanding from MTV. The fact that there are separate categories for rap and hip hop is just plain ridiculous. Also, the fact that an artist needs CHOREOGRAPHY let alone wins an award for it just tells me they aren't interesting enough to make a video without hiring about 25 fucking hot girls to dance with them on the video. So Missy Elliot wins a video for two entirely different genres, what the hell is that all about? There is nothing even close to the dance genres in her music, but allright, I understand your view points MTV...Best Editing? How the f*ck do you judge who has edited the video best? Viewer's choice? Gorillaz over My Chemical Romance? Damn I overestimated the MTV watchers by a hell of a lot.
The most positive thing is that Fall Out Boy won the MTV2 award. Though the band should've won this already a year ago with their brilliant album "Take This To Your Grave", but I suppose the sound needed to be MTV-ized before it could win awards. The same goes for Green Day, too, by the way. It's plain ridiculous that the worst song Green Day has ever composed (okay, after "Wake Me Up September Ends"), wins SIX awards!
I suppose I underestimated the power of the mainstream before these VMA's when I expected My Chemical Romance to win lots of awards.
