The Wörld Is Yours

To this scribe and millions of other music fans out there, Motörhead is the definition of rock'n'roll. The wild stories of their past revolving around groupies, heavy drug abuse, and wrecked hotel rooms haven't been forgotten, giving Lemmy's drunken roar a whole new dimension on their studio output. Not surprisingly, their twentieth (!) studio album "The Wörld Is Yours" is another beast of a rock'n'roll album, fueled by fiery riffs, scratchy roars, and punk'n'roll tempo from start to finish. It continues exactly where "Motörizer" left off two years ago, "Kiss Of Death" two years before that, "Inferno" two years before that...and so on.

We all know the Motörhead formula. They've released a new album every second year (excluding live releases) since 1996, essentially of songs that sound just like the ones two years ago. Rumbling rock'n'roll designed with the beer drinkers, motherfuckers, and rock'n'rollers in mind. But that's the beauty of "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" ideology. Motörhead invented the quintessential rock'n'roll formula, the e=mc^2 for the genre, all the way back in the 70s, so there's really no reason for them to deviate from that, especially because every two years or so we get a healthy dose of bruising rock'n'roll classics on each album, here represented by "Born To Lose", "Devils In My Hand", "Get Back In Line" and "Outlaw" in particular. We'll never get another "Ace of Spades", but that's perfectly fine given Motörhead's tendency to release consistently high quality output in rock'n'roll, of which "The Wörld Is Yours" is another fine example.
