Barbe-Q-Barbies

All Over You

Okay so here's a release I picked solely because of two things: their ridiculous name, and because it's an all-girl outfit with a sexy album cover. I mean, if you call yourselves Barbe-Q-Barbies you gotta at least be tongue-in-cheek or funny in some other way, right? I mean how bad can it be? In retrospect, I may have been blinded by their looks and completely ignored the fact that, yes, with a name like Barbe-Q-Barbies, there's literally no chance they'll be any good.

Indeed. "All Over You" is basically what happens when you put a bunch of girls in a room with AC/DC's discography and don't let them out until every record has been played to death. The result is an all-girl AC/DC cover band playing rehashed rock'n'roll songs with zero conviction and none of the charisma and sense of danger that made AC/DC great back in the day. And when they let go of the generic rock'n'roll vibe for a moment, such as on "Wig-Wam Bam", they sound like a second, no wait, third grade version of Hole's summery songs like "Malibu". Not exactly prime time material, eh?

Anyway. "All Over You" is extremely generic. It's one of those records where you just cannot fathom why it needed to be made. It's not funny, it's not even that catchy, and it's not something I'd recommend to anyone really. It's just five hot babes playing boring rock'n'roll songs with a gimmicky name, nothing more, nothing less.
