Cash Cash

Take It To The Floor

When Cash Cash entitled their debut album "Take It To The Floor", they most likely meant the dance-floor. For anyone missing the danceable disco beats of the first Panic! At The Disco album and the innocent ultra-poppiness of Hellogoodbye with an overload on synth-vocal and electro-beats, mixed with a pinch of Justin Timberlake, Cash Cash will be like the second coming of Christ. These guys will be HUGE in a matter of months, make no mistake, and this review attempts to justify why.

First off, a quick look at the group's Myspace page reveals that the band looks like a flaming bunch of fruitcakes, meaning it's only a matter of time before the British press hype machine masturbates all over these guys despite them being American. Second off, Cash Cash essentially sounds how Backstreet Boys would've sounded if they were armed with guitars, excellent song-writing skills and all of the latest trends from the electro rock scene. The group's theme song "Cash Cash" is testament to that, fusing perfectly together the boy-band obsession of the 90s and the incredibly naive-sounding pop punk of Hellogoodbye - think "Touchdown Turnaround" here. "Can't Stop Looking" sounds exactly how I'd imagine an N'Sync song to sound like if Justin Timberlake had previously been in a pop punk band. While that statement in itself may be enough to push all rock fans away from this record, they should really click on the Myspace player below and ask themselves if they seriously want to let such useless pretenses ruin some of the catchiest music you'll ever come across. Take "Electric Hearts", for instance, which is over-flooded with joy and happiness, while screaming out loud "dance dance dance dance pop pop pop summer summer summer" and things like that. If you don't feel like moving along to this song, well, you're either a stubborn heavy metaller or are not affected by ridiculously catchy rhythms, in which case you may be a better person than I am. I mean cmon, the song is the audio-equivalent of how cute your little sister's teddybear is!

When every song on the record instantly glues itself to your memory, the band must be doing something right. With songs like "Radio", "Concerta", and especially "Party In Your Bedroom", there should be no stopping of these guys to conquer the world. It's too early to say what the final impact of "Take It To The Floor" will be in a few years time, but lets just say that there's a significant chance that this album will be 2009's "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" as long as the right strings are pulled behind the scenes.
