The Briggs

Come All You Madmen

Fact: The world just doesn\'t have enough feel-good punk rock. Fact: The Briggs play awesomely feel-goody punk rock. Ergo: The Briggs rule. As I\'m sure you\'ll come to realize as you press play on the LA-based band\'s fourth album \"Come All You Madmen\". For all I know, they could just as well be based in Boston, because their drunken punk rock is surely inspired by that scene, with Dropkick Murphys, The Deadly Sins and all.

Song after song, The Briggs deliver some of the most relaxed, straight forward punk rock out there. They\'re not in a hurry to storm through the tracks more than they are to cheer and swing their pints around in the best Irish manner, and if you can fit an old school singalong into a song through gang vocals, all the better. Featuring guest vocals from Ken Casey (Dropkick Murphys) and Dicky Barrett (The Mighty Mighty Bosstones), you know what you\'re in for: timeless choruses made out of pure happiness, guiness-drenched vocals and songs that stick to your mind for good.

Alas, The Briggs could give a rats ass about belonging to a scene or dressing up fashionably. No, the only thing these guys care about is having fun with their friends. So be prepared to clap along, be prepared to dance at shows, and be prepared to have a shitload of fun. That\'s \"Come All You Madmen\" in summary for you, but that they\'ve been able to write great songs to fit with that atmosphere... why isn\'t this band booked to Roskilde Festival this year?
